Perhaps not as thrilling as seeing the longest bar of chocolate on earth, but you might be interested in one of the world’s longest flower carpets. The one pictured here qualified for the Guinness World Record.
About 700 local residents of Ventspils, Latvia pitched in to create it on July 24, 2010. The resulting runner of potted flowers ran 1,665.93 meters long from city center to city port (just over a mile). All flowers were then sold for charity or planted in flowerbeds within the city.
Should you be compelled to explore the Guinness World Record website further, seek and you shall find the largest-ever high-heel race . . . just one of many ways to participate in escapism.
Stay tuned for the Brussels Flower Carpet—August 2012.
