Throughout Britain this past Saturday (October 30) it was Feed the Birds Day. The program is an initiative of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
As winter draws near and gardens become barren of insects, grubs and seeds, natural food sources for birds may be quite diminished. Help feathered friends with feeders.
Tips: Try rotating feeders about your garden every few weeks. Wash feeders several times a season if possible—somewhere other than in the kitchen sink. And when cold temps freeze drinking water sources, punch a hole in the pond or offer water in a saucer.
